What We’ve Been Building (and What’s Coming Next) at MassageBook

If you’ve ever had the thought… “I wonder if they actually listen to us?”

You’re not alone.

Running a massage practice is a constant balancing act. You’re managing clients, schedules, income, marketing, and your own energy—all at once. And when something in your software doesn’t quite work the way you need it to, it doesn’t just feel like a small inconvenience. It slows everything down.

That’s exactly why we host our customer town halls.

Not as a formality. Not as a presentation.
But as a way to show you what we’re working on, why we’re working on it—and how your feedback is directly shaping what comes next.

In our most recent town hall, we walked through what’s been delivered so far this year, what we’re actively improving, and what’s on the horizon.

Here’s the real takeaway—not just what changed, but what it means for your business.

It Starts With a Simple Idea: Build Around Real Work, Not Assumptions

One thing we’ve gotten much better at over time is this:

We don’t assume how your business works—we learn it.

That might sound obvious, but it hasn’t always been easy. Massage businesses don’t all operate the same way. Some are solo. Some are growing teams. Some are fully booked and optimizing. Others are still trying to fill their schedule consistently.

But the common thread across all of them is this:

You don’t need more complexity—you need things to just work.

And that’s what’s been driving the changes we’ve made.

The Booking Experience: A Bigger Deal Than It Seems

Let’s start with something that sounds simple on the surface: booking.

For a long time, we didn’t have a complete picture of how your clients were actually booking appointments. Not just where they were coming from—but what devices they were using, what browsers, what friction points they were hitting along the way.

And that matters more than it might seem.

Because every bit of friction—every delay, confusion, or failed load—is a potential lost booking.

So over the past few months, we’ve invested heavily in understanding that entire ecosystem. We built better analytics, created a clearer framework, and started identifying where the experience could be improved without disrupting your workflow.

What that means in practical terms is simple:

Booking is getting smoother. More reliable. Easier for your clients to complete.

And when that improves, you don’t just get a nicer experience—you get more completed appointments.

Security Changes That Actually Matter

We also rolled out multi-factor authentication (MFA), and let’s be honest—this is one of those changes that people don’t always love at first.

Having to check your email just to log in isn’t anyone’s favorite part of their day.

But here’s the tradeoff:

Your client data is one of the most important assets in your business. And protecting it isn’t optional—it’s essential.

So while we’re continuing to refine and streamline that experience, the priority is clear:
keep your business secure without adding unnecessary friction.

You’ll continue to see improvements here, but the foundation is already much stronger than it was before.

Couples Massage: Built With You, Not Just For You

One of the most exciting updates we shared was the release of couples massage.

This has been a highly requested feature for a long time—and it’s now live, with hundreds of businesses already using it.

But what’s more interesting than the feature itself is how it was built.

We launched it through an early adopter program. That means instead of trying to perfect everything internally, we put it into real businesses early, gathered feedback, and started iterating immediately.

So when therapists asked about things like:

  • different room setups
  • equipment considerations
  • therapist pricing differences

That feedback didn’t sit in a backlog—it went straight into active development.

And that approach is something we’re doubling down on.

You’ll see more features released this way, where you can get involved early and help shape how they evolve.

Fixing the “Small Stuff” That Adds Up

Now let’s talk about something that doesn’t usually get headlines—but probably affects your day more than anything else: bugs.

Not the big, obvious ones.

The small, annoying, “paper cut” issues that don’t break everything—but slowly wear you down over time.

We made a pretty significant shift here.

Instead of treating bugs as something to squeeze in around new features, we created a dedicated team focused specifically on maintenance and quality improvements.

What that’s allowed us to do is go deeper.

Instead of just fixing what’s urgent, we’re fixing what’s persistent.

A recent example was improving SMS and email deliverability. In the past, that might have been patched temporarily. This time, we implemented a more substantial fix—so messages are now faster and more reliable overall.

You might not notice a single moment where everything feels “different.”

But over time, you’ll feel that things just… work better.

What We’re Focused On Next

Looking ahead, there are a few areas where we’re putting a lot of energy.

And they’re all tied to one idea: helping you run a more stable, scalable business.

Trust and Safety

As the platform grows, maintaining a professional environment becomes even more important.

We’ve started rolling out tools to better identify and remove bad actors—not just problematic listings, but also clients who create negative experiences for legitimate businesses.

This is one of those investments that pays off quietly.

Cleaner platform. Better clients. Less stress.

Classes, Packages, and Group Services

This is one of the most requested areas we hear about.

Not every business is strictly one-on-one anymore. Therapists are exploring:

  • group sessions
  • classes
  • bundled services
  • multi-client bookings

We’re actively working on building flexible solutions to support all of those use cases.

And if you think about it, this isn’t just about features.

It’s about opening up entirely new ways to generate revenue without increasing your hours.

Smarter Tools (Including AI—But Thoughtfully)

We know AI is everywhere right now.

And we also know that most of it feels either overwhelming… or not actually useful.

Our approach is different.

We’re focused on tools that are:

  • practical
  • secure
  • genuinely helpful in your day-to-day

Not gimmicks. Not noise. Just things that make running your business easier.

You’ll start to see these roll out gradually.

A Better Way to Understand Your Business

One of the biggest gaps we’ve heard about is reporting.

Not just having reports—but having reports that actually make sense and help you make decisions.

So instead of adding more static reports, we’re moving toward more modern tools that let you explore your data in a flexible way—so you can get the insights you need, when you need them.

Because at the end of the day, knowing your numbers is what allows you to grow intentionally—not just reactively.

The Bigger Shift (That Matters More Than Any Feature)

If you zoom out, the most important thing isn’t any single update.

It’s how we’re building now.

We’ve moved toward a much tighter feedback loop:

  • You tell us what’s working (and what’s not)
  • We prioritize based on real impact
  • We release improvements faster
  • You help shape what comes next

That only works if you stay involved.

And the therapists who get the most value out of MassageBook are the ones who do.

Where This Leaves You

If you take nothing else away from all of this, take this:

We’re not just adding features.

We’re trying to remove friction.

Because the easier it is to run your business:

  • the more consistent your schedule becomes
  • the less time you spend on admin
  • the more energy you have for your clients

And ultimately—that’s what growth actually looks like.

If You Want to Be Part of What Comes Next

Keep showing up.

Join the early adopter programs.
Share feedback when something doesn’t feel right.
Participate in future town halls.

Because this platform gets better when it reflects how you actually work—not how we think you should.
