History
Building a successful massage business in today’s world takes much more than great technique. Too many passionate massage therapists and practice owners fail to build sustainable, profitable businesses doing what they love.
Here at MassageBook, we believe that talented massage therapists who love what they do will spread happiness and good throughout the world. Our mission is to give them the tools to do so. That’s why we’re passionate about creating software that helps massage practice owners attract customers, retain clients, and manage their businesses.
Since 2011, we’ve been delivering massage therapy software that enables all massage practices (from solo practitioners to multi-staff clinics) to build and grow thriving businesses. Our all-in-one solution includes features for scheduling, marketing, memberships, SOAP notes, and more. We’ll take care of the busywork—so you can take care of the bodywork.

1993–1998
Life as a Massage Therapist
Mark Volkmann opens a massage practice in Atlanta, GA. He learns firsthand the challenges a one-man massage therapy business faces. He cobbles together a system of paper and software that works, but he knows there’s a better solution to help attract and retain clients, stay on top of a busy schedule, and manage his finances. -
1998–2006
Massage Warehouse Is Born
Mark realizes that massage therapists don’t have a centralized place to inexpensively purchase all their supplies and opens Massage Warehouse. Over time, it becomes clear that too many talented massage therapists and clinic owners have to abandon their passion because they lack the business skills, management tools, and support required to succeed. -
2007–2010
The Thinking Years
After exiting Massage Warehouse, Mark still feels passionately about helping massage therapists succeed. He spends much of these years thinking through the best solutions to the problems massage practice owners face. Mark commits to building a system that will help massage therapists succeed. -
2011
MassageBook, Software for Massage Therapists, Is Born
After years of planning what the solution would look like and how it would work, Mark launches MassageBook. The customer feedback is incredible and helps to develop MassageBook into a massage therapy software solution that better meets the many unique needs of independent therapists and growing clinics than anything available prior.

MassageBook Grows
MassageBook is growing rapidly and continues to add new features—such as multi-staff scheduling, couples massage capabilities, and enhanced staff permissions—that further solidify its already unique position as the leader in software designed specifically for massage therapy professionals.
