History

Here at MassageBook, we believe that talented massage therapists who love what they do will spread happiness and good throughout the world. Our mission is to give them the tools that enable them to do so. That’s why we’re passionate about creating software that helps massage practice owners attract customers, retain clients, and manage their businesses.
Since 2013, we’ve been delivering stellar massage therapy software that enables independent massage therapists to build thriving businesses. Our all-in-one solution includes features for scheduling, marketing, memberships, SOAP notes, and more. We’ll take care of the busywork—so you can take care of the bodywork.

1993–1998
Life as a Massage Therapist
Mark Volkmann opens a massage practice in Atlanta, GA. He learns firsthand the challenges a one-man massage therapy business faces. He cobbles together a system of paper and software that works, but he knows there’s a better solution to be discovered to help attract and retain clients, stay on top of a busy schedule, and manage his finances. -
1998–2006
Massage Warehouse Is Born
Unable to work for a lengthy period due to a bicycle accident, Mark realizes that massage therapists don’t have a centralized place to inexpensively purchase all their supplies and opens Massage Warehouse. Over time, it becomes clear that too many talented massage therapists have to abandon their passion because they lack the business skills and tools required to succeed. -
2007–2012
The Thinking Years
After exiting Massage Warehouse, Mark still feels passionately about helping massage therapists succeed. He spends much time during these years learning what it means to be a father, changing diapers, and thinking up the best solution for the problems massage practice owners face. Mark commits to building a system that will help massage therapists succeed. -
2013
MassageBook, Software for Massage Therapists, Is Born
After years of planning and architecting what this solution would look like and do, Mark launches MassageBook. The customer feedback is incredible and helps in continuing to develop MassageBook into a massage therapy software solution that meets the many unique needs of massage therapists better than anything available prior.
